Preschool Swim Program

PRESCHOOL LEVELS (2.5-5 years) Give your child a head start on learning to swim. The Lifesaving Society Preschool Program develops an appreciation and healthy respect for the water before these kids get in too deep. In our aquatic progressions, we work to ensure 2.5 to 5 year olds become comfortable in the water and have fun acquiring and developing a foundation to water skills. We incorporate the Lifesaving Society Water Smart education in all preschool levels.

These preschoolers will have fun learning to love the water. We will help them to jump into chest deep water. They will float and glide on their front and back and learn to get their faces wet, blow bubbles and hold their breath with their face in the water for a minimum of 3 seconds.

These preschoolers learn to jump into chest-deep water by themselves. They will submerge and exhale underwater. They will learn how to do front and back floats and glides for longer periods of time, using an assist.

These youngsters will be jumping all by themselves by the end of the session. They will recover objects from the bottom of waist deep water. They will work on kicking and gliding through the water on their front and back, unassisted. They will be expected to float unassisted on their front and back by the end of the session.

Advanced preschoolers will now know how to jump into deeper water and get themselves out. They will open their eyes under water and swim completely unassisted for 3-5 meters. They will master a short swim on their front taking breaths continuously and begin to learn front crawl and kicking on their side.

These youngsters get more adventuresome with swimming longer distances and perfecting their stroke technique and endurance in the shallow as well as deep end. They will work on front and back crawl swims for 5 meter interval training and get a giggle out of starting to learn whip kick.
